This recipe was given to me by my aunt.Ingredients

16 pieces
- 1 ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp sugar
- ¾ tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp butter or margarine
- 3/4 cup water
- pinch of salt
- **vegetable oil for frying
Methods/steps
- Mix all ingredients together (EXCEPT WATER and OIL)
- Add water and knead into a dough
- Let it stand for 5 minutes
- Divide the dough into 4 balls
- On a slightly floured surface, roll each ball out to a ¼ inch thickness circle
- Using a knife, cut the circle into 4 pieces (one cut horizontially and one cut vertically)
- Using a deep pot or pan, heat the oil (about 2-3 cups) until hot
- Place each piece of dough into the oil and fry until light-golden brown, then turn over and fry the other side


Additional Tips
*When frying, use a spoon to throw oil on top of the dough that is facing up. This will allow the "bake" to puff up and it will allow for even cooking.
