This is a pudding made all around Guyana, commonly in Hindu homes on the 9th day after the birth of a baby. The morning of the 9th day, prayers are performed on the mother and baby, and after the sun prayers are done, cooking sweets and celebrations begin! Eaten with roti, it really is a delicious dessert! No need to wait for a baby to come to make it! At pujas, a pudding called lapsee is made, this is similar to lapsee, except it is curried.
